Jesper Juul's definition of a game -

“A game is a rule-based system with a variable and quantifiable outcome, where different outcomes are assigned different values, the player exerts effort in order to influence the outcome, the player feels emotionally attached to the outcome, and the consequences of the activity are negotiable.”

Canabalt

Canabalt was a very addictive game to play. Every time I died I wanted to go again. This was mainly due to the fact that every time you played, you would achieve a score. You would keep wanting to beat yours and other people's high scores. It is very competitive.

The purpose of the opening scene in Hellblade is to entertain and also educate. The educating aspect of the scene is created by the voices that you can hear. This gives people an insight in to what it is like to have psychosis. It is also made to entertain as this scene plays with the emotions of the player, this is done by adding things to the game such as dead bodies.
